Dawson Merritt, no. 6 LB in 247 and rated 66 in country 247 has committed to BAMA. Can’t believe the Buckeyes didn’t kick the tires on this young man.

I would not say that OSU did not kick the tires. We do not live and work with the evaluators. They probably see and look into the back ground of the top 100 to 250 recruits in the country every year. They may not offer players because of the background checks but they know about them. That may also be the reason that some people are slow played without the intention of doing so. They may be working on some of the top players and not look at the film of a player that is rated in the top 400 but has desire and plays like the coaches would like them to play from an effort point of view. That could be the diamond in the rough that we find only occassionally.

I thought OSU was the new Bama?

  • Interestingly, both us and bama have 19 commits and our average is just 1 point higher than theirs, but that translates to over 22 points in the composite. I really didn't think Deboers and bama would recruit nearly this well in his first year. We're fortunate that he didn't keep Offord and Grady in state.

Cultural fit is a real thing. It often has NO negative reflection on the young person, but it could turn into a poor fit for both parties and a waste of time to take a young man that doesn't fit.

Bama is Bama. Step back but won't go away. Just keep recruiting and be prepared to beat them. Gotta beat the best to be the best.

Bama is Bama when they have Bear Bryant or Nick Saban. When they don’t, they’re not. Not even close actually.

DeBoer is killing it in recruiting right now. But there will be a drop. I don’t think there is any way around it.

We have no idea if the tires were kicked or not. It is not the coaching staff's responsibility to notify the fanbase of every phone call they make. What an ignorant post!

We are. Merritt gained 37 pounds this offseason, and OSU wasn't interested any longer. You didn't hear?

I think our coaches should have to put out a daily email about what they plan to do that particular day.

He’s a darn good coach with a CFP appearance in his back pocket. Also, we need to remember that Saban is still very involved and has said he helps with recruiting when kids come on-campus. Also, in the eyes of some Bama is Bama until proven otherwise
