We're busting out the hacks to shop better and save bigger at dollar stores. Like dollar tree, family Dollar and Dollar General. So how do you get the most bang for your buck or bucks at these stores? Uh, it all starts at home. Frankly. We, we wandered around *** lot of these different dollar stores, different brands and sometimes the shelves are *** little empty. Sometimes some of the stores are smaller than others, but you can weed that out and save you some time. Like, for example, we're getting on ***, we one of the websites right now for Family Dollar. You wanna find *** store? Here's *** great little tip and you can click right here. Refrigerated Foods, right? That means it's probably *** bigger store, right? You wanna maybe click, maybe they have an ATM uh, adult beverages, water machines. The more fresh produce, the more of that you do probably the bigger store. It is the bigger selection they have. And then of course, you can get into every single category once you pick your store, kitchen, dining, bedding, bath, home decor, window treatments, anything you want. And you can go to the store where there's *** lot of stuff. Ok. Now you're in the store shopping, your grocery list, don't wanna buy off brand products, don't worry, dollar stores are now carrying more name brands than ever, but you can't get off the hook just that easily. So here's what we gotta do. All right, like here at Dollar Tree, for example, you gotta do *** little map, these hefty bags. Ok, look at the price *** dollar 25. That seems really, really good. We're gonna take *** dollar 25 and we're gonna divide it by. I'm getting seven bags and I figure out the price per bag. That's what I wanna know the price per bag here because I did the math and I'm really, really smart with math, uh, 18 cents *** bag, 18 cents *** bag here. But look at this, we went to Walmart, we found the same hefty bags. Ok. Cost more money. $8 but it's *** pack of 75 bags. Do that math. And at Walmart, yeah, you're paying more but you're only paying 11 cents *** bag. Better deal at Walmart than here at Dollar tree. So what should you buy at dollar stores for maximum savings? Here's the stuff you want to buy. Like greeting cards here at these dollar stores. This is *** buck compared to what, four or $5 elsewhere. You'll also find deals on party and picnic supplies, things like decorations, paper cups and paper plates. I found this for my daughter. Congrats grad. That's fun. You can get really great deals here. But here's what the experts say. You probably shouldn't buy here electronics. Now, you know, we're talking about chargers, right? They tell you the experts do when you're buying electronics. If you have an Apple device, for example, you should buy an apple charger to make sure it charges correctly, to make sure there's no danger involved with it. So this stuff all day long, baby electronics, maybe more. And here's an extra tip for you. Most dollar stores not only accept coupons from the dollar store itself, but coupons from the actual manufacturer. So keep an eye out for those as well. That's all for today. Back to you.

Dollar General will improve safety protocols in stores and pay $12 million in penalties in a sweeping settlement with the Department of Labor over the discount chain's long history of putting low-wage employees in dangerous working conditions.Dozens of Dollar General workers and customers have been killed at stores over the past decade, and the company has faced worker protests and millions in fines from regulators for unsafe store conditions.The Labor Department said Dollar General agreed to hire new safety managers, provide safety and health training to workers and develop a safety and health committee. Dollar General will also reduce merchandise levels in stores to prevent blocked fire exits.The agreement also requires Dollar General to correct any safety violations related to blocked exits or access to fire extinguishers and electrical panels within 48 hours. Dollar General could face fines up to $500,000 per violation."These changes help give peace of mind to thousands of workers, knowing that they are not risking their safety in their workplaces and that they will come home healthy at the end of each day," Douglas Parker, the head of the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health division, said in a statement.This settlement resolves existing contested inspections as well as open federal inspections involving alleged violations.Dollar General did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.Last year, the Labor Department agreed to a settlement with Dollar Tree to improve worker safety in stores.Both chains have a low-cost business model, allowing them to keep their prices down and open in areas competitors like Walmart and Target have bypassed.But this model often means only one or two workers making the minimum wage oversee stores at a time, making it nearly impossible for employees to stock shelves and keep stores well maintained.Dollar General is the fastest-growing retailer in the United States, with more than 19,000 small stores. The company has boomed, typically in small towns, due to the shrinking middle class and income inequality in the United States.
